“YCA was where I learned that I had a voice. I was 17 when I first attended Check The Method. I had just experienced the loss of my grandmother and my brother had recently been locked up. I had nobody to talk to. No way to express myself. I had always written, but it was at YCA that I felt empowered to tell my story and also change the narratives being told about black kids in my city. I will go to college. I will release my first chapbook soon. I will be part of the change. YCA gave me that power.” – student from Prologue high school

YCA has established the Teaching Artist Circle for a select number of committed supporters, whose involvement in YCA is tangible and visible in the work of its Teaching Artist Corps. Circle members pledge $5,000 annually for three consecutive years, underwriting stipends to teaching artists and funding the platforms upon which they present their work.
Members of the Teaching Artists Circle receive special benefits including:
~ Acknowledgement on the YCA website, in the annual report, and in other publications
~ Invitations to the pre-performance reception of the Teaching Artist Corps’ annual performance
~ Invitations to individual Teaching Artists’ performances and events
~ Four VIP tickets to the Louder Than A Bomb team and individual finals
