LTAB Team Finals Tickets on Sale Now

Louder Than A Bomb is the largest youth poetry festival in the world. This year's Team Finals will be hosted at the Auditorium Theatre in downtown Chicago. Tickets are available now & will sell out.

Team Finals will feature the top four scoring high school teams for a four-round Olympic-style poetry slam. This night will feature musical performances, notable guest judges and the most talented youth poets in the city.

YCA Artistic Director Launches New Book

YCA Artistic Director & Founder of Louder Than A Bomb, Kevin Coval, will launch his new book, A People's History of Chicagoon March 4th, Chicago's 180th Birthday,  at The Harold Washington Library at 5pm. He will be joined by many special guests. The event is a part of #LTAB17 & is free to attend. 

A People's History of Chicago tells the history of Chicago through 77 poems—for the city's 77 neighborhoods—beginning from the city's incorporation date on March 4, 1837 to present day. The poems themselves are tied to Chicago's art, music, and cultural history. YCA Welcomes New Director of Programs & Marketing Manager

Young Chicago Authors is excited to announce Kesha Daniels-Rush as the new Director of Programs & José Olivarez as the new Marketing Manager. 

Kesha Daniels-Rush brings to YCA knowledge and practice established through her program development, implementation, and coordinating work with grassroots community organizations, public and private universities and public libraries, in addition to her work in the areas of marketing and media communications. Her work has been informed by a liberal arts education and graduate study in the scholar-activist tradition through education and training focused on the intersectionality of various historical and contemporary cultural dynamics, as well as, the institutional and social implications upon communities of the inner city.

YCA wins 2016 MacArthur Award

Young Chicago Authors is excited to share incredible news with you, particularly as we kick off the 2017 Louder Than A Bomb Chicago Youth Poetry Festival. The MacArthur Foundation recently announced the recipients of its 2016 MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. YCA was one of only 14 organizations this year to receive this prestigious honor.

The Award has been presented annually since 2006 to organizations across the country and around the world that demonstrate exceptional creativity and effectiveness. According to MacArthur, the Award is not only recognition for past leadership and success but also an investment in the future.
