Prompt:
Create a blind contour drawing. A blind contour drawing is a hand drawn images where the drawer doesnt lift their pen/pencil and doesn’t look at the image nor their hand that is drawing the image.
Create a blind contour poem where the poet writes a poem by hand and doesnt lift their pen/pencil, doesn’t look at their written words, nor looks at their hand while writing the poem itself.
Take 20 – 45 seconds to perform a blind contour drawing of a small image on a sheet of paper. After you draw it, look at it for 20 seconds, do your best to discern what you’ve drawn. On a separate sheet of paper write a blind contour poem. Let the blind contour drawing lead the subject of the poem.
When you’re working drawing blind contour images, and writing blind contour poems, thinking about how it feels to vanquish control and following feelings.
Slow down your thoughts and notice the strangeness of not looking at your hands/words you write/nor images you draw as you are actively creating.
