Young Chicago Authors offers field trips, in-school presentations with writing exercises, and tabling at community events as an option for schools and community organizations to connect youth to our writing programs.
Field trip groups get to experience a writing workshop and opportunities to perform their new work on our stage. The objective of our field trips is to help students develop skills in public speaking, creative writing, performance, and creative expression. We hope that a field trip session will encourage any students who are musicians/poets/writers to come back and attend our recurring in-house programs in their desired medium to further develop their artistic skill sets.
While we are all booked for field trips this semester, we still have openings for next semester. In the meantime, we can offer in-school presentations for us to come visit your students in the classroom, share information about our programs and opportunities to participate, and bring poetry directly to them with some fun writing exercises.
