Every Word Counts is a one-stop-shop to polish production, songwriting, and collaboration skills. We approach songs as worlds in which every sound plays a role.

Every Word Counts (aka EWC), hosted by YCA alumnus and recording artist Rich Robbins, is a weekly songwriting workshop series serving upcoming Chicago-based lyricists, vocalists, producers, engineers, and performers ranging from 14-27 years old. EWC is a one-stop-shop to polish production, songwriting, and collaboration skills. Our mission is to sharpen writing skills, knowledge of song structure, recording etiquette, and build participants’ network through collaboration. Participants have the unique opportunity to learn from Chicago-based musicians, recording studios, and engineers in an intimate and accountable creative space. Participants need no prior experience with songwriting as they learn every element of a song and create a collaborative and supportive community to gain feedback, skills, and even how to market themselves.
